Jonathan Sarna, Future Trends in American Jewish Life
29 January 2017
What are the central issues facing the American Jewish community in the decades ahead? In this provocative presentation, Professor Sarna will examine a number of key trends — including the impact of the 2016 election as well as lesser-known economic, demographic and religious changes — that will affect American Jewry in the 21st century and beyond. He will conclude with a call for a new mission for American Jews and a discussion of how to meet the challenges ahead.
Jonathan D. Sarna is University Professor and the Joseph H. and Belle R. Braun Professor of American Jewish History at Brandeis University. He is also chair of the Hornstein Jewish Professional Leadership Program at Brandeis and chief historian of the National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia. His son Aaron and daughter-in-law Talya are Shomrei regulars.
